Jacksonville’s two-way star returned for Day 1, taking reps on offense and defense as the Jaguars carefully manage his workload following last season’s knee injury.
Date: July 29, 2026
Travis Hunter returned to the field Wednesday as the Jacksonville Jaguars opened 2026 training camp at the Miller Electric Center.
Hunter participated on both sides of the ball during team drills, wearing an offensive jersey before switching into a defensive pinnie. He recorded 12 total 11-on-11 snaps—eight at cornerback and four at receiver.
Jacksonville plans to develop Hunter primarily as a starting cornerback while continuing to use his rare ability on offense. Head coach Liam Coen explained that the coaching and sports-science staffs are carefully coordinating his workload as he returns from the knee injury that ended his rookie season.
The former Heisman Trophy winner showed early flashes, including tight coverage against a receiver and an athletic contested-catch attempt. His return gives Jacksonville another major weapon as the team prepares to defend its AFC South title and pursue a second consecutive playoff appearance.
