LEGACY — EAZY-E WOULD HAVE TURNED 62

The hip-hop community celebrated the life and legacy of Eazy-E on what would have been his 62nd birthday.

Date: September 8, 2026

Born Eric Lynn Wright in Compton, California, on September 7, 1964, Eazy-E emerged as one of the defining architects of West Coast hip-hop.

He founded Ruthless Records and helped assemble N.W.A alongside Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, DJ Yella and Arabian Prince. The group’s uncompromising music changed the direction of rap while bringing national attention to stories emerging from Compton.

Eazy-E also developed a successful solo career through records including “Boyz-n-the-Hood” and his 1988 album, “Eazy-Duz-It.” Behind the scenes, he helped introduce Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to a national audience.

Rock The Bells celebrated his birthday by sharing footage of Ice-T remembering his early touring experiences with Eazy-E and N.W.A.

Eazy-E died from complications associated with AIDS on March 26, 1995. Three decades later, his voice, business instincts and influence remain deeply embedded in hip-hop culture.
