Federal prosecutors have charged two men in an alleged romance-and-investment scheme involving a fabricated San Francisco 49ers career and approximately $1.3 million.

Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, have been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
According to court documents, Love met women through dating apps and allegedly presented himself as a San Francisco 49ers player or a wealthy Swiss real-estate investor. Social-media photographs showed him wearing official team apparel, posing near luxury vehicles and participating in football-related activities.
Prosecutors claim Chan posed as Love’s financial adviser and helped promote nonexistent investment opportunities. Victims were allegedly shown fabricated banking information and encouraged to transfer money or obtain personal loans.
The alleged operation began in February 2022 and affected at least 26 women in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Authorities believe additional victims may not yet have come forward.
Love and Chan were arrested August 24 at the Boise Airport and remain in federal custody.
The charges are allegations contained in a criminal complaint. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
