Ashley St. Clair is speaking publicly about her relationship with Elon Musk in director Alex Gibney’s new documentary, Musk.
Date: September 10, 2026
St. Clair claims Musk’s team offered her a $40 million lump-sum payment and continuing monthly support in exchange for signing a nondisclosure agreement.
She says she declined the proposal because she wanted the ability to speak freely and believed signing it would set the wrong example for her children.
St. Clair participated extensively in Gibney’s nearly four-hour documentary, which premiered September 8 at the Venice Film Festival.
Musk declined to participate in the documentary. He has since attacked Gibney’s work as a biased “hit piece,” while his attorney has threatened possible legal action concerning claims raised by the film.
The $40 million figure and the circumstances surrounding the proposed agreement are St. Clair’s account. They have not been independently established through court proceedings.
Musk is scheduled to enter U.S. theaters October 16.
